About Teacher Assistant

I built Teacher Assistant because teachers shouldn't spend their evenings making slides.

Teacher Assistant started with a simple observation: too much of a teacher's time goes into preparing materials instead of teaching.

I kept seeing the same problem.

Teachers were spending evenings creating vocabulary lists, exercises, presentations and other materials — work that was important, but repetitive.

At the same time, AI was becoming capable of generating exactly this kind of content.

The problem wasn't whether AI could help. The problem was putting it into a workflow teachers would actually want to use.

That's why I started building Teacher Assistant.

The idea

A workflow teachers would actually want to use.

AI should remove the repetitive work — not remove the teacher.

Ivan Gavlik

Founder & Developer · Rijeka, Croatia

I'm a software developer who likes building products that remove unnecessary complexity. I've spent more than a decade building software across fintech, e-commerce, and enterprise systems.

Teacher Assistant started from a simpler idea: if technology can save a teacher several hours every week, that time is worth giving back.

An honest question

I'm a developer, not a teacher. That's why teachers are part of the process.

Teacher Assistant isn't built from assumptions about what teachers need. The product is shaped through conversations, feedback and real usage from language teachers. The goal isn't to tell teachers how they should teach — it's to listen to what takes their time and build tools that make that work easier.

What we believe

Our principles

Teachers stay in control

Teacher Assistant generates. The teacher decides.

Useful beats impressive

We don't care how clever an AI feature sounds if it doesn't solve a real classroom problem.

Simple by default

A teacher shouldn't need a tutorial to create a lesson.

Quality matters

Teaching materials need to be appropriate, understandable and useful — not just generated quickly.

Work in progress, on purpose

If you're a language teacher, I'd love to hear from you.

The best product ideas don't come from a boardroom — they come from the people using the product. Tell me what takes too much time in your lesson preparation, what you wish your teaching tools could do, and what AI gets wrong.

Teacher Assistant is still being built, and teacher feedback is one of the most important parts of that process.
